So we have the timing of when we book our hair and makeup but do we all know the next step??? I know you all think that I am crazy for telling you to book your beauty services so far in advance but trust me, you will thank me in the end when you look AMAZING on your big day!
The next step will be to pull pictures of styles that you like and even better, styles that you do not like. We all have the vision in our heads of what looks best on us (up vs. down) but it is a stylist's job to help you understand what really flatters you best. It is great to bring the pictures of styles that you like so the stylist can get a sense of what you are looking for and cater that look to your face shape. It is equally important to show pictures of things that you don't like so the stylist can cross that off of the list of things to try! If you know that you HATE your hair parted in the center then when try it for your wedding?!?! This is equally important for your makeup. If you love the dramatic eye makeup then find a picture that is close to the look that you are going for. Your idea of dramatic and the makeup artist's idea can be completely different if you don't have a picture!
As a side note...even though you are bringing pictures to show the stylists/makeup artist's, you have to understand that each person has different hair texture and different skin. It is hard to replicate the exact same look from a magazine unless you have the EXACT same hair or the same skin.
Go get those bridal magazines...or look online! I think the best place to look for hair and makeup styles are in the gossip magazines! They always have celebrities going to events so why not take the red carpet look for your wedding!!!

Bridal Hair & Makeup
This is a subject that is very near and dear to my little wedding filled heart!
Most bridal magazines will tell you to book your hair and makeup appointments 4-6 months prior to your wedding date but I have to disagree...The 4-6 month rule could apply if you are getting married in a small town (and I mean very small) where there are only 4 weddings a year but not in the big cities! If you are looking to book the big time stylists for your big day you will want to look at booking them at least 9 months ahead. If the salon will let you book him or her a year in advance I would say go for it!
If you think about it...how many really good stylists are there in each city? Of course there are good ones but we all want the REALLY good ones, don't we?!?! So if there is a particular stylist or makeup artist you know you want to book why not plan ahead! If you have read a review online about them that means that all of the other brides out there have too!

Gift Registry
This is always a hot topic for guests and of course the bride and groom. The question that I get is, "do I have to buy a wedding gift from the couple's registry?". My answer always stays the same, "yes", with the exception of cash!
The bride and groom create their gift registry for one simple reason...they need and/or want each and everything on the list. Just because you found a gorgeous picture of a waterfall while you were on vacation does not mean that it will make a great wedding gift for your old sorority sister. Stick to the registry.
There are a few exceptions, and I mean few. If the bride or groom is a very dear friend and they have mentioned something in the past that they really wanted for their new home but they couldn't register for it then it would be a great gift. The key is that they have said that they want or need it in the past. The other exception is things being handed down through the family. Of course these gifts are excepted (and some are better than others).
If you don't have time to click a few buttons online to get them something off the their registry there is always cold, hard cash. Who would complain about getting money?!

Here we go!!
I have been living in the Dc area for about three years now working in small parts of the wedding industry. I have always had a love (some might say obsession) for weddings. I love learning about everything from the relationship to the proposal to the dress and the big day!
Over the years of my "obsession" with weddings I have been asked every question you can think of. I wanted to start this blog to help everyday women get the wedding day that they deserve! I will hope to answer any questions that you may have and give you my personal tips on how to get things to go your way!
Happy Planning!!
